almost the end of 2008
been one heck of a year too. Spent the whole year with Jeanette :) got my laptop up and running, played a few times, partied a few times, and got Straight A's too. Coming close to Graduating...lets see how this next term goes, I have to go to Dupage campus and still not sure what I'm doing about my fourth class. Oh dont know if I mentioned, but went to Thanksgiving in De Kalb again which is the 3rd year in the row and it was Great! then went to Bruce & Lindsey's again for a mini Christmas which was really good too. I will have a CD out by April. Ahoy = Hello (in Dutch) In the beginning days of the telephone 'Ahoy hoy' was the standard greeting when one answered the phone. It was later replaced by 'hello' and then 'who dis?'. Mr Burns revived this old greeting in the Simpsons.
~ring~
Ahoy hoy.

:::: HISTORY :::::
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.9.1 to 2.0.0
#######################################################
Renoise 2.0 features Precision, Timing and Plugin improvements
Biggies:
+ Full, automatic, sample precise Plugin Delay Compensation (PDC) for
Track FX (native and Plugin) and Instruments (aka everything).
You simply don't have to care if a VST Plugin or instrument introduces
unwanted latency. Renoise will compensate it for you under the hood.
+ Custom track delays to easily offset MIDI/Audio tracks. For example,
laying back a snare can now be done in realtime in the mixer. Same
goes for "MIDI tracks" (tracks with MIDI notes).
+ Mac OSX: Added support for Audio Unit (AU) Plugins (finally)
+ "Ticks" no longer limited by the engine's note resolution / "Speed" is dead:
- "Speed" (this tracker compatibility thing which no one understood, but
somehow made the pattern scroll faster) is finally gone. Better said, it got
replaced by more powerful and easier to use LPB settings (Lines Per Beat -
how many lines in the pattern make up a musical beat).
- You can now offset notes and note commands with a gradient of 1/256 line
precision (thats a PPQ of 4096 at LPB=16!) via a new "delay column" in the
pattern editor. This might be the first time you record something in a tracker
and it actually sounds exactly as groovy (or bad) as you played it!
- revised Sample FX commands: Pitch/Volume slides, glides now work
independently of the sampler's "tick" rate. For example, 0110 will
pitch notes a half-note up, 0101 a sixteenth half-note, etc. Volume/panning
slides on volume/panning column now work as if their value was the first digit
of the corresponding command column command (f.e.: 0720 = A2) See the tutorials
pages for more info about these and other effects.
- ready for the future: NoteDelays and LPB are the most important and necessary
steps for upcoming big features like Zoomable Patterns, Piano Roll, more accuracy
(timing wise) with FX automations, and so on.
IMPORTANT: Not all of the changes are backwards compatible, thus only new songs
can make use of all the new features. Old songs can be manually upgraded
in the "Song settings" pane, but will probably need manual adjustments...
+ Vastly improved MIDI recording precision by compensating event latencies
(and of course also thanks to the new note delays / LPB settings)
+ Added support (recording and playback) for channel and polyphonic
aftertouch for MIDI and VSTi instruments.
Polyphonic aftertouch is sent when specifying a volume value (velocity) after
a note on (but before a note off is present). Channel aftertocuh can be send via:
"--- 01 .. C3 00 20" (This will send a aftertocuh value of 20h to the instr. 01)
+ Added note quantize options for realtime recording and Note nudge options in
the Advanced Edit pane. There are also new shortcuts for realtime note
quantization to quickly quantize after recording.
+ Improved audio latency when recording: The Line-In device now lets you
specify the source of the recorded audio and will apply/fix latencies,
as needed.
+ Multi output VSTis (AUs) are now fully supported. Samplers or Synths
with multiple channels can now be routed to individual tracks.
+ Sending notes to VST (AU) FX is now supported. Simply create a FX alias
in the VST Instruments pane to do so (link an instrument to an existing
FX).
+ Added the ability to enter fractional BPM (like 127.56) is the BPM
box. Fractional values can only be entered by double clicking the BPM
value.
+ Improved audio performance (lower latencies are possible) especially for OSX &
Linux, when running Renoise on multi-CPU machines.
Note: On Linux, you have to configure your system to allow Renoise to
create realtime threads. Usually this is done via PAM. Please see the
Linux FAQ for more details on how to configure your system to make use
of the improvements & fixes.
And more:
+ Interface / OS integration:
- Drag & Drop of external files (into the Renoise Window)
- Better support for Japanese and other input modes
- Renoise GUI widget cosmetics
- Tooltips now show if a shortcut is "local"
- Hitting escape while drag & dropping cancels dragging
+ Linux ALSA:
- the ALSA configuration now allows changing the Periods per Buffer
+ Mixer
- New helpful short names for LFO, Automate, Send and Velocity Devices
(showing what they control, etc...)
+ Automation:
- Added a "Show only used Automation" option to the automation list
+ Pattern Editor
- easier and more accurate mouse click/selection/navigation:
- single clicks jump to the pointed position (optional)
- middle click mutes / unmutes the track
- added key bindings for "delete previous line [in columns/track/pattern]"
which behaves like a "backspace" in a text editor
- Rendering selections will no longer reduce the rendered volume. If you've
set the master volume to 0 dB you can still lower the master volume
manually to avoid clipping...
- Added separator bars for note columns
- More contrast between empty and non-empty data
- Removed the "Show Framework" option
+ Pattern Sequencer
- Added a "Add new unique Pattern" function
Default shortcut is "Control + Alt + Insert" from the pattern editor
+ Sample Editor:
- OS Sample-Clipboard support (Windows only): Exchange (Copy/paste) samples
with your favorite sample editor
- Added mono mix modes to the "Adjust Sample" dialog
- Added "Copy into New Sample/Instrument" actions
- Added a "Mix-Paste" (modulate/add) action
- Better (unique) names for newly created or rendered samples
- Added a "markers" Snapping option which currently only snaps to the loop
- Added an option to auto-select the currently played back "sample split"
+ VST/Plugin related:
- Better performance and compatibility with VST instruments (less audio
latency related crackles on Songs which use lots of VSTis)
- Pimped Plugin Browsers:
-- The browsers for Plugin FX and Instruments can be made bigger by
clicking on the "more" button.
-- Plugins can be hidden, moved, and renamed (right click on the entries)
-- Plugins are now by default (this can be changed, right click) organized by
manufacturer
- Added an option to skip searching for new Plugins on startup (to speed up
startup on computers with huge Plugin collections)
- Added an Info button ("?") for VST Instruments as well (works just
like the old ones for FX)
- Plugin compatibility options (such as multiprocessor behavior) can
be changed by clicking on the info ("?") buttons
- Added a preset rename button for Plugin instruments
- Window positions of external interfaces are now memorized/restored with the song
(external editors will open on the last used position on screen)
+ Internal FX:
- added a new native FX "Filter 3", which replaces the old "Filter 2" device.
The new filter has four models. All come with LowPass, HighShelf, BandPass,
BandReject, LowShelf and HighPass) modes:
-- a standard, precise and fast 24dB Biquad filter
-- an experimental, fast and "fruity" 24dB Moog filter emulation
-- a 4 stage Butterworth filter, for precise and ultra sharp cutoffs
-- a 8 stage Butterworth filter, for ultra precise and ultra sharp cutoffs
- added new native FX: "RingMod" as replacement for Filter2's RingMod mode
- added new native FX: "Scream Filter" which simulates the old Filter2 Dist Comp
modes, but with more options than before
- the "*LFO Device"s "Reset" parameter can now be automated by other
"*LFO Device"s or "*Velocity Device"s. This way you can automate/trigger
the LFOs phase.
- Added a one-shot option to the LFO device when running a custom
envelope: This will avoid that the envelope cycles. LFO reset pattern
commands will retrigger the envelope then.
- the Stereo Expander now has a "Mono Mix" switch
+ Misc:
- Added "Show Log file" and "Show Preferences folder" in the help menu
so that you can easily find Log/Preferences files on your computer
- Replaced the old "recent files" menu with "recently loaded" and
"recently saved" file menu
- Autobackups now also save for "Untitled" (newly started) songs.
The backups are saved in the Preferences folder.
- The clock is back ;) (in fullscreen mode)
+ And more. Lots of small stuff/details which hopefully make composing even more fun...
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.9.0 to 1.9.1
#######################################################
Changes:
+- Renoise is now available for Linux! See the community board for
details...
+- Added a "Draw Mode" and to the Sample Editor to draw new tiny waves
by hand, or to retouch existing waveforms. A simple "Create Sample"
option was added as well, so that you can create new hand-drawn samples.
+- Easier Drag and Drop in the Pattern Editor: You no longer have
to hold the mouse button down a bit, before you can drag a selection
in the Pattern Editor to move or copy it.
+- Added "Clear Muted Tracks/Columns" actions (shortcuts + context menu
entries) to the Pattern Editor and Sequencer. This can be especially
useful as an "arranging" aid in the Sequencer.
+- Added a "Record Dry" switch to the Sample Editors recorder, which
allows you to preview the to be recorded signal wet (depending on the
selected Track FX), but enforced to record the dry signal (without FX).
+- rescanning the folder & file contents in the DiskBrowser should be
a bit faster now
+- added an info button to VST / LADSPA FX, which will show you some
details about the loaded plugin
Fixes:
>- fixed: problems CPU detection with some newer AMD multicore processors.
Renoise could sometimes recognize those as single core CPUs with some
energy saving settings enabled
>- fixed: The 2nd Pattern Editor "Delete" keyboard shortcut has
not removed FX values, but just Notes
>- fixed: VST FX On/Off automation could cause unwanted delays when
rendering songs to disk
>- fixed: very high pitched backwards or ping-pong sample loops sometimes
didn't played back correctly
>- fixed: The Mac "Jack-insert" VST should now work properly in Renoise
>- fixed: OSX Leopard: Hitting/releasing the Command or Control key
while Caps-Lock was on could produce unwanted Note-Off events
>- fixed: VST plugins which are listed as FX but are VST instruments, will
now automatically be "fixed" (listed correctly) after you've instantiated
them and restarted Renoise
>- fixed: import of ImpulseTracker songs skipped IT Note-off/Note-cut
pattern events
>- fixed: import of Fasttracker XM songs could lead to invalid sequencer
loop ranges
>- fixed: Instrument envelopes in Fasttracker XM and ImpulseTracker IT
songs are now correctly imported
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.8.0 to 1.9.0
#######################################################
- Multi core support:
Renoises Audio engine supports now parallel Audio processing, which means
that it uses all available physical CPUs for realtime audio processing.
Expect audio performance speedups between 1.2 and 1.8 per extra CPU.
- Preset handing for internal FX devices:
+ Factory settings (read-only pre-installed presets) for all the internal
FX are now available.
+ User presets let you easily load/save, import/export and share your
favorite FX settings.
+ A/B preset compare buttons, which are saved along with the song,
allowing quick switches in live playing situations or allow to easily
compare two FX presets.
- Improved MIDI timing on Windows:
+ When you are the lucky owner of a MIDI device which has new generation
WDM (DirectMusic) MIDI drivers, Renoise will offer them beside the old
Windows Music (MME) drivers.
WDM MIDI drivers allow (but dont guarantee) a more precise timing for
MIDI instruments and MIDI Clock. Perfect (sample precise) timing in
case that your MIDI device and driver supports MIDI timestamping.
+ Timing for the old MME drivers (which most of you will have) has
improved as well: MIDI output from Renoise should be a lot tighter than
before.
- Improved MIDI Clock Slave support (live jamming mode):
When you stopped Renoise while its synced, you can now restart (resync) it
at any song position by simply starting playback in Renoise again.
Renoise will also no longer stick to the masters absolute song position,
but syncs Bar wise to the master, so you can freely move around in the
sequencer while being synced.
Also Renoise will keep time when loading new Songs: This means you
can start playing a session (hit start on the Master, so that Renoise
knows where the Masters Bar starts), then hit stop at any time in Renoise
and load a new song. When you are ready to continue, hit space (start
playing) in Renoise and Renoise will automatically adapt to the already
running Master.
- Improved MIDI Clock Master support (supporting automated speed changes) on
all platforms
- MIDI hot-plugging support on OSX:
You can now plug/unplug your Firewire or USB MIDI gear while Renoise
is running, and Renoise will automatically detect it on the fly.
This works also for "virtual" devices that are created by other
applications that you start while Renoise is running.
- Automateable states of internal devices (like the filter type),
represented via buttons and switches in the device chain will now also
record pattern or envelope automation when right clicking them.
FX Device On/Off pattern commands can now also be auto-inserted/recorded
into the pattern by clicking them with a right mouse click.
- Quantized automations (like On/Off switches, filter types...) are now
properly visualized and handled (will no longer show percentages) in the
automation view.
- New internal FX Devices:
+ Bus Compressor
Hybrid of an feed-forward and feed-back (RMS vs Peak) compressor.
Due to its sensitive processing, Very useful in the final mixing stage.
+ Maximizer
A Compressor/Limiter that easily allow you to make the overal sound
louder and punchier. Also very useful as simple peak limiter last device
in the master track.
+ Chorus:
Simple, but powerful classic chorus effect.
+ Distortion 2
New Device with 4 different distortion modes and tone adjustments.
Replaces the old Distortion.
+ Gate 2:
Gate effect with sidechain filters and a duck mode. Replaces the old
Gate FX.
+ Added a "*Velocity Device" which lets you automate other FX parameters
via the velocity of live played or recorded notes.
- Pimped up "old" internal devices:
+ Added a custom envelope mode to the "*LFO Device": You can now draw your
own envelopes.
+ The "*LFO Device"s frequency is now shown in Lines Per Cycle (LPC) to make
pattern synced LFO sweeps easier
+ The "post volume and pans" (from the mixer) are now visible in the
device-chain as well
+ Upgraded the mpReverb to mpReverb2 (thank Mindplay!), adding Color and
Width control
+ The Band Frequencies and Qs are now adjustable in the EQ10 and EQ5 device
+ All EQs allow now a selective channel processing (just the left,
right or both channels inverse)
+ Added Filter response Graphs for the EQ5, EQ10 and MixerEQ
+ The delay device has now pan control for the delayed signal and
a "BPM sync" lock, which lets you control the delay times in pattern
lines instead of ms
+ Added a phase inversion switch to the gainer device
+ Added filter controls to the flanger and improved the LFO
+ The phasers number of stages is now adjustable (and can be automated)
+ Added audio meters for all the amplitude related devices (Gate,
Compressors)
+ "Surround width" is now available in the Stereo Expander device as well
- Added beat, 09 effect, ms and sample rulers to the sample editor. You can
also auto-snap the selection to those segments now.
- Added a search field to the DiskBrowser
- added a ReInit button to the Audio Preferences pane, which quickly shuts
down and reinits the audio device with the current selected settings.
- New "soft" fullscreen mode on Windows now, which doesn't change the
resolution of your monitor and can be used on any (not only the primary -
when using more than one screens) monitor.
This should also solve the remaining VST editor problems, where some
dialogs of some VST could not be correctly shown in fullscreen mode.
- The NNAs (New Note Actions) are now adjustable per sample, not per
instrument as it used to be
- The Sample interpolation mode is now adjustable per sample (the default is
cubic interpolation). Argurus sinc will replace only the cubic modes when
rending to disk.
- The Pattern line highlighting and the default Pattern length is now saved
with the song (no longer a preference)
- Mastering options like dithering or soft clipping are adjustable in the
mastertracks device chain, and saved with the song (no longer a preference)
- Added peak levels to the master tracks volume device, to make avoiding and
fixing clippings more easy
- The AMIGA/FT2 pitch mode can now be enabled separately from the
09 Offset AMIGA/FT2 mode
- Upgraded the internal FLAC library to 1.1.4 (fixes a few encoding problems
and improves encoding/decoding performance).
- Support for dead character typing in all Renoise text fields (you can type,
enter combined characters like ñ now...)
- and more... (the usual small improvements here and there)
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.5.2 to 1.8.0
#######################################################
=== Highlights
* Mixer, Recording, #Line-In Device, full Undo/Redo, open File-format
- Added a Mixer, for a fast access and total control of all used DSP
effects and volume levels within Renoise.
DSP effects can be easily accessed and modified (copied/pasted/
moved/deleted by keyboard shortcuts or drag'n'drop). Mini sliders
(DSP parameter controls) can be optionally shown in the mixer strips
for those DSP devices parameters, that you want to control via the
Mixer.
All components of the Mixer (mute/solo, panning, faders, volume,
routings) can be hidden to get a better overview.
Introduced PRE/POST volume/pans: All tracks have now two sets of
volume/pan parameters:
The first one (PRE) is automatable, and will be applied prior to all
other DSPs (how it used to be in earlier versions).
The second one (POST) is not automatable, and was introduced for
the final mixing/mastering process: It will be applied after all
DSP devices, giving you the final control of the tracks volume
without having to worry about already created automations.
All volume and pan parameters can also be MIDI mapped.
- Recording in the SampleEditor, which allows to create new samples
on the fly, directly in Renoise. Signals can be either recorded
cleanly (with no DSP FX), or be routed in realtime through any tracks
DSP chain.
- Added a "#Line-In Device", which allows you to directly route any of your
sound-cards physical input into a DSP chain in Renoise.
- Undo/redo is now available for all operations (with no exception).
- New open (XML) file format for all exported Renoise files (except
samples). To view the XML files for songs or the other documents,
simply open the newly saved files with an unzip tool.
Songs and instruments are still self contained, so nothing (except
the new file extensions) has changed for those who do not want/need
to edit/view the file contents.
The new open file format will allow third party developers to easily
write extension (Instrument or Pattern generators) or converters (from
to other file formats) for Renoise.
- Unicode support: If you have the "Arial Unicode MS" font installed,
nearly all characters you can think of can now be displayed in Renoise
(for example in the Disk Browser). Japanese characters are supported
without the "Arial Unicode MS" font, as soon as you have installed the
operating systems default fonts for Japan language support.
- Patterns can now be rendered into separate files as well (registered
users only). This way you can easily create sample loops out of
your songs, to use them in other programs.
=== Audio Engine Improvements
* Smoother, Faster, better Routing
- Smoother automations, processed per tick instead of per
lines, giving you at TPB 6, 6 times smoother parameter
changes than before
- Tight BPMs to improve compatibility with other Software,
when using exported/rendered samples from Renoise:
BPMs are now played back exactly as they where typed
in. In previous versions, the BPM was quantized to tick
resolutions.
- Higher volume resolution in the volume column:
0-0x7f,0x80, instead of 0-0x40
- The tick delay (DX) and tick note cut command (FX) can now
be specified in the volume and/or panning column.
- Changes in routing scheme (good ones):
All tracks are now by default routed to the master track (not the
first physical stereo channel of your sound card), which allows
you to easily change the routing for all tracks by just changing
the routing of the master track.
- Virtually unlimited number of samples per instrument
- Added a CPU overload prevention option in the Audio preferences:
When active, the player will automatically panic and stop when
reaching a specific, configurable CPU amount for a specific,
configurable time
=== VST(i) Improvements
- Renoise is now compatible to the new VST 2.4 standard
- Improved VST timing (VSTS with own Sequencer should run more
reliable row...)
- The DSP list got a "search box", so that you can quickly access
VSTs or native Effects
=== Pattern Editor Improvements
- Pattern syntax highlighting: Volume/Pan/Offset/Pitch
effects can now be shown in different colors in the Pattern.
- Tracks can now be cloned (including all pattern data or not)
=== Sample Editor
- Added a "Snap to Zero" option, for selections and loop based
operations
- Better keyboard navigation support: You can now control, view
and edit in the sample editor without touching the mouse.
=== Disk Browser
- Flac, Ogg, MP3 and M4A files can now be previewed in the Disk-Browsers
"Sample" section. To preview or load MP3 and M4A, Quicktime 7.0 must
be installed.
- Samples can be viewed and loaded directly out of XRNS songs
- All filetypes that Renoise can read, are now visible in all Browser
categories.
- Multiple samples or instruments can now be loaded at once, by holding down
the Shift key while selecting entries in the Browser, or holding down Shift
while navigating the Disk-Browser via the arrow keys.
To create a multi sample instrument, drag and drop the selected samples into
the sample slots of an instrument.
=== GUI Improvements
- Keyboard focus: Sub parts of the GUI, like the automation views
or the Disk-Browser can now have exclusive keyboard focus, which means
that you no longer need to press magic modifier combinations to
access simple tasks like directory / file browsing.
By default, everything will work as it used to be. To enable the
new focus behavior, you either have to click on the to be focussed
sections with the middle mouse button, or by holding down the Alt
key while clicking.
Even in focused mode, there still exist a lot of global keyboard
shortcuts. When for example the Pattern-Editor is focused, nearly
all old key combinations will work as usual.
Note that "shift" is now used everywhere to start and modify
selections.
To change instruments quickly use "Alt" + the Arrow keys instead
of "Shift" and the arrows.
You can also set (advance) the keyboard focus via the Control+Tab (Windows)
or Option+Tab shortcuts without having to touch the mouse.
- View snapshots:
The global view layout (which parts of the GUI are visible or
hidden, which editors are selected) can now be stored/recalled via
a single keyboard key hit. There are 7 presets available, which can
be by default stored/recalled via F1-F7.
- Added a window menu on top of the interface
- Advanced Edit operations are now in a collapsible side panel next
to the Pattern Editor
- The preferences are now in a separate dialog, which can be accessed
from the window menu
- All automations (of Tracks or Instruments) can now be zoomed in/out to
allow easier navigation/editing in large patterns.
You can now also select / copy and paste parts of the envelopes
by either using the mouse or the new keyboard shortcuts, as soon
as the automations are focused.
=== And more...
- The Key-jazz option (polyphone/monophone note input) is back: You
can now en/disable polyphone recording of notes in the transport
section.
- Added a dialog to show a summary of all MIDI mappings that are
currently set.
- The DSP and automation list views and the VST drop-downs have now
a quick-find field, which lets you show only entries which match
the given search string
- The custom or default keyboard shortcuts can now be printed from
within any browser. Press the new "Print" button in the keyboard
preference pane to do so.
- Added a "Mute Src" option for the native Delay DSP effect, to use
in send tracks without playing back the dry signal
- Added a command to skip loading the song template when creating a
new song (Ctrl + Shift + N)
- Increased the maximum beat sync value to 512
- Added a color picker to the theme preferences and a bunch of new
texture sets
- Moved the song comment view into a dialog
- "Follow automations on song position changes" is now a preference
- The "Record MIDI Note Offs" option has been removed from the MIDI
preferences. This option is now always on.
- Some old advanced edit operations (like Delete Instruments) can
now be found in the Edit window menu.
- ASIO channel names are now shown (as provided by the driver) in
the routing list choosers
- Added a new "routing" component into the DSP list:
The "#Send Device" and "Line-In Device" can now be found there.
=== Mac only
- Right modifier keys also work on the Mac now as non modifier keys
(to start playing the Pattern / Song by default)
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.5.1 to 1.5.2
#######################################################
Changes:
+- Changed MIDI Program Change behavior:
When modifying parameters of a MIDI instrument, Renoise
will no longer resend program changes to all the other MIDI
instruments, but only to the altered one.
+- OS X: Improved VST window handling: VST editor windows
should now require less CPU - various drawing / resize
incompatibilities were fixed
Fixes:
>- Windows: Fixed possible random crashes when deleting a
VST or native DSP device by clicking on the small "X"
button in the DSP device.
>- OS X: Fixed start-up problems, if Renoise was installed on a
case sensitive file system.
>- OS X: Fixed broken Apple menu in OSX 10.4.3 and higher
>- Fixed wrong import of 32 bit float AIFC and 24 bit files
>- Fixed broken Impulse Tracker import - songs with compressed
samples should load correctly now
>- Fixed initialization problems with the Korg-M1 VSTi
>- Fixed distorted Audio output with the Normad Phaser VST
>- Fixed incorrectly bypassed *VSTiAutomationDevices: Parameter
changes were sent to the VSTi even when the device was
bypassed
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.5.0 to 1.5.1
#######################################################
+- OSX: Improved compatibility for OS X Tiger
+- OSX: The OS X version will now also (the windows version
already does) save a crash-backup when something bad
happens and Renoise unexpectedly quits. You will
hopefully never need this feature, but its good to be
on the safe side, isn't it? The crash-backups are saved at
"~/Library/Preferences/Renoise/VERSION/CrashBackups"
+- More responsive/faster GUI. Especially on OS X
+- Some minor Audio Engine performance improvements
+- Ghost Notes: Renoise supports now "ghost notes", a
feature you might know from FT II or other trackers:
When using an instrument-envelope for an instrument,
you can now avoid that the envelopes are retriggered
by deleting the instrument no. in the pattern:
C-4 01 .. 0000 -> this will trigger instr. 01
--- .. .. 0000
D-4 .. .. 0000 -> this also, but the envelopes
will not be retriggered
>- Fixed a crash when auto-capture instrument was on and
Instruments > 128 where used in the current pattern
>- Fixed possibly wrong pitch rates in 01 02 05 effects,
when changing the sample rate.
>- Various other tiny fixes and improvements

automatically set to the selection from the sequencer
context menu.
- Render to instrument
+- Render the pattern-selection to the current instrument
directly from the Pattern-Editor. Great to create loops
or pads, to "sample" VSTi's, and lots of other creative
uses!
------------- Audio
+- Faster audio engine.
+- Improved ASIO performance.
+- The processingbuffersize is now automatically chosen for
best performance.
+- Metronome. Toggle button is next to the play controls,
settings are in audio configs.
+- Moved dither and clipper settings from the mastertrack to
the audio configs.
------------- Track DSPs
+- New effects: MixerEQ and mpReverb.
+- Mousedragging moves devices.
+- Parameter sliders mapped to a MIDI controller are shown
by a different background color.
+- Automated parameters are shown by a little icon next to
the slider. The color of the icon shows if the parameter
is automated in the current pattern or only somewhere
else in the song. The shape of the icon shows if the
automation is by envelopes or patterncommands.
+- Easy access to automation and remotemapping through
contextmenus for the sliders and DSP's.
+- LFO destination entries are readjusted when changing the
devicechain (swapping, deleting and inserting devices).
+- Sendtrack devices are readjusted when changing the
sendtracks (swapping, deleting and inserting sendtracks).
+- Copy and paste settings between similar devices.
------------- Automation handling
+- Treeview with overview of all devices and parameters.
An icon next to each parameter shows if a parameter is
automated or not. A different color shows if it is in
the current pattern or somewhere during the whole song.
+- Simpler creation of new envelopes: just select a
parameter and start drawing.
+- Automation following: when changing the songposition,
the current automation values are updated.
+- Improved mouse control:
- Leftbutton drag of an envelope point doesn't delete
other points as it did before.
- But with shift it still does.
- Holding ctrl shows tooltip with value.
- Alt+leftbutton drag moves all points' values and time.
- Alt+rightbutton drag scales the whole envelope.
- Drag with ctrl for fine control of value, using left
button, alt+left or alt+right as described above.
+- Vertical and horizontal grid in view.
+- Fixed bug with cubic interpolation. This may cause some
compatibility issues with old songs, if the envelopes
had very fast changes.
+- Toggle for recording of slider movements to envelopes
or patterncommands.
------------- VST
+- Support for multitimbral VST Instruments (via alias devices)
+- Improved stability
+- Missing VST`s will add a dummy device when loading a song
with VST`s that are currently not installed. This prevents
that the document is modified when saving a song
where VST plugs are missing.
+- Added a second user definable VST path to the options
+- Adjust VST`s speed by tempo adjustment switch in song
configs. (Toggles between 1.281 and pre-1.281 behavior).
+- VSTAutomationDevice: added popup menu to quickly select
a parameter by name.
+- Get default VST path from registry on PC, and use the
systems default VST path on the MAC.
+- Trying to open the editor of a VST plugin that doesn't
have one now opens a default editor with sliders instead.
------------- Patternsequencer
+- Moved to the middleview next to the patterneditor for
larger view.
+- Added names to patterns. The right border of the view
is resizeable so you can show/hide the names.
+- Drag and drop

+- Set default shortcut for "panic" to ctrl+escape.
------------- Known problems
Windows / Os X:
There are some timing problems with some VST`s (Arturia
CS-80, V-Station), where sometimes the first note of the
pattern is not played when the VST plug-ins arpeggiator
is enabled.
OS X:
Some VST plug-ins behave strangely when their plug-in
editor is resized. Most of the time, closing and reopening
the editor solves this problem, but we are of course
working on a solution for this.

>- Fixed a problem when restoring VST presets in songs where VST effects
without programs where used
>- Fixed a crash when using the "*VSTiAutomationdevice" with a VST instrument
that has no parameters
#######################################################
################ 16 Oct 2003 Renoise 1.28 final
#######################################################
------------- VST
+- Support for Waves shell VST plug ins :
Wave`s VST plugs show up now as regular VST effects in the DSP effect
list.
Note that you need to have at least Waves 4.0.1 installed to use them
in Renoise.Previous versions of Waves will not work, and not show up in
the List !
+- Presethandling for VST effects :
You can now choose presets via a popup in the DSP effect views, and
load/save presets or banks for VST effects.
+- VST instruments can now be set up, to never get suspended to free
up CPU resources:
By default, Renoise skips processing effects and instruments wich
dont produce any sound for a while (for example when not playing
notes on it for a while). This leads to the problem that VSTi`s
with an internal sequencer might get muted if they are silent for a
while and then wont start playing notes when their internal sequencer
plays notes again. So you can now disable the auto suspend mode
individually for each VST instrument in the instruments / VSTi tab to
avoid this problem.
There you will also see how much the CPU the Vsti currently uses.
Further you can assign a VSTi to play only one one defined track
and not as it was before, that the track is choosed automatically
if you play notes on it. This is usefull if you have for example
a VSTi running that needs no note input but you want to assign it
somehow to a track.
+- Better VST time info support :
All sequencer based VST plugs run now flawlessly with Renoise.
There where for example some problems with the Reaktor 3 and 4, and
Virtual Guitarist VST`s.
+- The (Amiga V-Blank) Speed setting will now be whenever possible converted
to a "lines per beat" factor when running as MIDI slave or as host for
VSTi`s :
Many people use a Speed setting of 3 instead of 6 to get a higher timing
resolution in the pattern. This leads to the problem, that if you run for
example your song at speed 3, all VST`s that got Renoise`s timing informations,
run at double the speed (as the pattern scrolls at double the speed at speed
3). This is of course not what you usually want, so Renoise will now convert
the speed settings that are compatible to a lines per beat factor (1, 2, 3 and 12)
internally, and send to all clients the usual BeatsPerMin setting. All other
speedsettings will result in BPM changes in the clients, as its impossible to
convert these values into a proper higher lines per beat resolution.
This is of course only a temporary solution, but it works. We plan to remove
this ugly and musically totally uncompatible speed setting in one of the
next big updates, to solve this problem fully.
Speed is currently only used, to be compatible with older Tracker formats
wich Timing is based on this (Amiga V-Blank) speed concept.
+- The "real" BPM and "lines per beat" factor (see above) is now shown in the
Songproperties tab.
About the "real" (what you hear) BPM : As Renoise`s timing is (as in all Trackers)
tick based, the real BPM might be not exactly the BPM that you have set up
in Renoise. This happens because of quantization errors and is normally nothing
to fear of, as the error is very small.
But as soon as you use longer rendered beat samples wich you produced in Renoise
in other audio software this might get noticeable, so you can now see the real BPM
in the songproperties to be able to either adjust the other sequencers to this tempo
or to pitchshift the signal to fit the others software tempo.
>- Absynth2 runs now perfectly with Renoise. It crashed occasionally in the
previous releases while for example changing the presets.
>- Fixed problems with restoring presets from some VST effects or instruments:
"Superwave P8", "VST instrument Drumatic", "CM-505 free drumbox" and some
others did not restore their parameters correctly when loading a song.
Note that you need to save and then reload your old songs to apply this fix.
>- The Inspector VST effect showed only a blank window sometimes
>- The DFX Scrubby VST works now again with Renoise. (It did not show up in
Renoise`s DSP effect list in the last release)
>- When closing the edit screen of certain VST effects and VST instruments, the
mouse pointer sometimes changed into other object, such as a yellow triangle
warning sign and a red circle with white cross.
------------- Sample Editor
+- Suport for more types of 32-bit Wav Sample files. There are several
Subformats of the 32bit format. Renoise supports now all the major ones.
+- Inserting Sample Data At beginning of a sample in the sampleeditor moves
now also the loop points
>- Fixed problems when setting loop points in very very long samples (> 3min)
in the sample editor
------------- Pattern Editor
>- Flip in advanced edit or via "CTRL + F" in the patterneditor works now as expected
with blocks, patterns, columns and tracks
>- Interpolate in the Pattern editor will now also work if the start and end values
are the same.
------------- Misc
+- The Render to disk button is now in the disk browser. The button shows up
below the file type chooser if you set the chooser to "song".
+- Added a keyboard shortcut for RenderToDisc.
The default assignment is Control + Shift + "R", but you can change it as usual
in the configs / keyboardsettings tab.
+- An errormessage is now shown when saving a file failes because of a disk error or
because there is too less space left on the device.
>- Renoise as MIDI clock slave works now finally without any know flaws
>- Renoise rarely crashed while loading special songs because of a special number
of visible tracks of the previously loaded song. This is fixed now.
This fixes also the rare crashes after starting new songs via the "Zap All"
command.
>- Setting a value higher than 00 of DestSendEffect in *Send Device did not
work in the effect column.
>- Holding down shift + Right click on the panning, volume or surround slider created
a flood of automation envelopes.

============= new stuff / addons / improvements :
+- Brand new DiskOp: You now have song/instrument/track/sample/themes
sections, and the directories are shown separated from the files in a
tree view.
+- Support for OGG and MP3 samples (load them in the diskop as samples)
MP3 import note : You won't be able to import MP3s if you haven't installed
the third party "mpglib.dll" . This dll is freeware, licensed under the
lgpl. See www.renoise.com's download section for more info and a
download link.
+- You can load any file (a bitmap, exe, whatever you like) as a sample in
the DiskOp menu.
+- The old Compressor is now back as "Shaper" (tm :) in the Track
(Native) DSP Device section list.
+- A new device to the Track (Native) DSP effects section: "StereoExpander"
This device can reduce (to mono) or expand the stereowidth of the incoming
signals.
+- The "*MidiCCDevice" now shows the name instead of the CCs in the
Track Automation view.
+- All native effects will clear their buffers now when you turn them off
with a pattern effect by pressing the "Mute" button. This avoids
hearing some "old sounds" when you switch them on again.
Also, all native effects buffers are cleared when pressing "Panic".
+- MIDI Mapper improvements: You can now specify a range (min/max) for the
remotely mapped value and interpret the value inversely.
+- When you assign a MIDI controller message (CC) via the RemoteMapper and
record the tweaks, this CC message is no longer recorded into the pattern as
a "normal" CC Message.
+- Faster "Render to Disk" function (only available in the registered version)
+- Smoother pattern scrolling
+- Trackmuting works no longer as it does on mixingboards by default
now. When you mute a track, no more notes are triggered from the
pattern, but you can still play notes via the keyboard on it. This
means that the track will no longer calculate audio as soon as it's
muted and you can free up some resources by muting tracks.
+- You can now clone whole sequences of patterns in the sequencer
via keyboard shortcuts:
CloneCurrentPattern (LControl + LShift + LAlt + F1) acts as usual
and inserts a new unique pattern directly behind the current one.
CloneTwoPatternSequence (LControl + LShift + LAlt + F2)
...
CloneElevenPatternSequence (LControl + LShift + LAlt + F11)
CloneSongSequence (LControl + LShift + LAlt + F12)
This clones the currently selected pattern plus the next X
patterns and adds them as a new unique sequence behind the currrent one.
CloneSongSequence will do this for the whole song.
This is of course only a temorary solution, but it works. I've added
this as sometimes it is a pain to do such operations with the current
sequencer. Of course the new "arranger-like" sequencer will fix this,
but as this will take some time to implement this solution might be
handy in some situations. (At least I used it a lot the last time :)
+- Added a new 4Pole 24db lowpass filter to the Filter Device and a new
Moog Filter emulation. The old filters will be loaded with old
songs for compatibility reasons though.
If you want to use the new Filters, use the new "Filter2" Device.
+- The currently selected track and instrument are now saved with the
song.
+- Added a vertical sliderbar in the pattern editor.
+- 2 new GUI performance options (available only in the config.xml)
mCooperativeGUIPerformanceInWindowedMode (default 1)
mCooperativeGUIPerformanceInFullscreenMode (default 0)
By default Renoise now uses all the available CPU in fullscreenmode and
is more gentle in windowed mode. You can change this behavior by
modifiying these flags in the "config.xml" file. For example, if you
don't want to run other programs besides Renoise but want to run in windowed
mode, set the mCooperativeGUIPerformanceInWindowedMode to 0 and all free CPU
power will be used by the GUI to have a faster and smoother GUI.
+- Added a new keyboardsection "InstrumentEditor". Right now, only
"BackToPatternEditor" is defined, but more key assignment will follow.
+- Added the "Hide all unused" button next to the patterneditor to hide all unused
pan and volume columns in the song.
+- The track/song and instrument names are no longer limited to 20 characters.
The instrument names are now also visible when no sample, VSTi or MIDI instrument
is assigned.
+- When the cursor is not on a noterow and you play notes via the keyboard
in non-edit mode, the next available note row is automatically used so
that you can also play notes when a volume, pan or effect column is
selected.
+- Instrument envelope presets will now store and recall also the loop,
sustain, decay and LFO settings.
+- You can now export and import FXP and FXB VSTi presets in the VSTInstrument
settings (no longer in the external editor window).
+- Keyjazz recording improvements: Chords and single notes are now always recorded
from the currently selected note column without affecting the columns to the left
of it. This lets you place and record chords and notes more precisely.
+- The songtimer will now be reset when you start a song and not when
it stops.
+- Tick effects like 0x0E (retrigger) or 0x0d (delay) are excluded
while humanizing (advancededit panel).
+- Pageup/down and F9-f12 now always jumps in quarters instead of 16 lines in the
pattern editor.
============= Fixed :
>- Faster GUI (and the GUI lagging problems on some machines should be fixed now)
>- When copying patterns or tracks, envelopes were not copied/pasted.
>- "ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver" and "ASIO Multimedia Driver" (Cubase
installs them) will no longer be shown in the ASIO device list. They
are terribly slow and seem to work only with Cubase.
>- Fixed a crash when an ASIO driver reported an rrror under rare circumstances.
>- When recording with a MIDI keyboard without having the cursor in a note column,
sometimes the notes didn't get recorded at all or in the wrong note column.
>- The Suppatrigger VST FX works now in Renoise.
>- VSTi assigning problems fixed. After moving a VST instrument with the move
buttons in the instrument chooser box, they didn't get assigned
properly.
>- VSTi's will no longer produce a click after hitting the Panic
button.
>- VST effects were always active after loading, even if you
saved them being disabled (bypassed).
>- When you loaded a song, zapped the patterns and then started a new one, it
kept the previous song's automation.
>- The "Distorsion" DSP Device showed an empty label instead of
"Filter".
>- Importing problems with XM modules that had patterns with a lenght
of FF fixed.
>- Fixed a bug in the XM importer that skipped importing some XMs
with an "Importing failed. File is corrupt" message.
>- You could delete notes when not in edit mode. Now you cannot edit anything
in the pattern when edit mode is off.
>- All native filters sound the same on all samplerates now.
The wrong frequency range of some filter types is also fixed now.
>- Fixed crackling problems with some TC Works VSTs :
(DeEsser/Compressor, Limiter, SideChainer, Parametric EQ, Graphic EQ)
>- The parameter names of the "*MidiCCDevice" and "*VstiAutomationDevice" were not
updated correctly in the trackautomation view.
>- Fixed the bug of ImpulseTracker modules without trackdata crashing
Renoise.
>- When moving the virtual screen in the Track DSP menu, some
pixels were not properly cleared.
>- Fixed the bug that applying Track effects to a sample even included
the turned off ones.
>- Selecting a value in the Automation menu, the number of lines
wasn't shown in hexadecimal, although hexidecimal pattern numbers
were selected in the Configs menu.
>- The status line showed wrong (previous) effect chain numbers
in the Master track when typing in effects.

============= Fixed :
<- Panning was reserved in the last RC version.
<- VST problems :
+ Changing presets while playing could cause a crash with some VSTi's
(Absynth for example)
+ TC Works sometimes crashed when fiddling around with the editor's
parameters.
<- Suppatrigger runs again. Sorry, it was disabled by accident in the
last RC.
<- When importing old Renoise 1.2 Songs, empty Instruments showed "Midi Cha"
instead of nothing
<- The loop playing direction was reset when gliding notes.
<- You could delete notes when not in edit mode. Now you cannot edit anything
in the pattern when edit mode is off
<- The little switch 'Edit On/Off' on the top left of the Pattern Editor
didn't switch the edit mode when clicking it with the mouse.
<- FPU problems (track got silent under rare circumstances) with the new Moog
Filter. Could also result in a crash when the scopes were visible.
<- "ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver" and "ASIO Multimedia Driver" (Cubase
installs them) will no longer be shown in the ASIO device list. They
are terribly slow and seem to work only with Cubase.
<- Fixed a crash, when an ASIO driver reported an error under rare circumstances.
<- Column off didn't work with MIDI instruments.
<- When vertically scrolling patterns with the mouse-wheel to the last line, the
yellow bar in the Automation went out of range and appeared between others
controls on the right.
<- When rendering in multitrack mode (one file per track), the rendered tracks
didn't go into the appropriate directory "xxxxxx Rendered", but remained in
the upper directory.
<- The vibrato effects worked only in the LAST effect column of your track.
<- When you set pulse or sine as waveform in the instrument envelopes to
modulate the pitch, the pitch constantly rose instead of modulating.
<- When recording with a MIDI keyboard, without having the cursor in a note column,
sometimes the notes didn't get recorded at all or in the wrong note column.

============= new stuff / addons / improvements :
+- The overall performance is now at least as good as in the last official stable
release (1.26)
+- When you assign a MIDI controller message (CC) via the RemoteMapper and
record the tweaks, that CC message is no longer recorded into the pattern as
a "normal" CC Message.
+- You can toggle the prehearing of samples on again in the DiskOp
menu.
+- You can now export and import FXP and FXB VSTi presets in the VSTInstrument
settings (no longer in the external editor window)
+- Keyjazz recording improvements: Chords and single notes are now always recorded
from the currently selected notecolumn without affecting the columns to the left
of it. This lets you place and record chords and notes more precisely.
============= Fixed :
<- ASIO performance problems that resulted in randomly distorted output on
some setups.
<- The sample rate setting in the Audio/Configs tab was not properly restored
after restarting.
<- Some LP Filter settings of older Renoise modules were not correctly
imported.
<- Timing problems with some VSTi's. "TBL Bassline", for example, ran out of sync
after a while.
<- VSTi assigning problems after moving a VST instrument with the move
buttons in the instrument chooser box.
<- VSTi's will no longer produce a click after hitting the Panic
button.
<- Importing problems with XM modules that had patterns with a lenght
of FF.
<- The envelope symbol again appears in the track head if the current
pattern / track has at least one envelope.
<- Removed the "Pattern" category out of the DiskOp until its
implementation. Many users were confused that saving patterns didn't
work.
<- Sometimes when copying pattern data from a short to a long pattern, the pattern
was filled with trash at the end.

<- Strange messages about wrong MIDI settings when loading a song
<- ASIO crackles and bad performance
<- Old songs and instruments with filter envelopes were imported in a
wrong way (with a wrong filter type).

patterns and adds them as a new unique sequence behind the currrent one.
+- New keyboard section "InstrumentEditor". Right now, only
"BackToPatternEditor" is defined there but more key assignment will
follow.
+- New button "Hide all unused" next to the Pattern editor to
hide all unused pan and volume columns in the song.
+- A new device to the Track (Native) DSP effects section:
"StereoExpander" This device can reduce (to mono) or expand the
stereo width of the incoming signals.
-- Faster GUI (and the GUI lagging problems on some machines
should be fixed now)
-- Faster "Render to Disk" (only available in the
registered version)
-- Smoother pattern scrolling
+- Trackmuting works no longer as it does on mixingboards by default
now. When you mute a track, no more notes are triggered from the
pattern, but you can still play notes via the keyboard on it. This
means that the track will no longer calculate audio as soon as it's
muted and you can free up some resources by muting tracks.
-- The internal "Filter" Device uses less CPU power now.
-- The "*MidiCCDevice" now shows the name in the
Track Automation view.
-- The track, song and instrumentnames are no longer limited
to 20 characters. The instrument names are now also visible when no
sample or VSTi or MIDI instrument is assigned.
-- When the cursor is not on a note row and you play notes via
the keyboard in non-edit mode, the next available note row is
automatically used so that you can also play notes when a volume/pan
or effectcolumn is selected.

:::: HISTORY :::::
=== Highlights
* Mixer, Recording, #Line-In Device, full Undo/Redo, open File-format
=== Audio Engine Improvements
* Smoother, Faster, better Routing
When active, the player will automatically panic and stop when
reaching a specific, configurable CPU amount for a specific,
configurable time
=== VST(i) Improvements
- Renoise is now compatible to the new VST 2.4 standard
- Improved VST timing (VSTS with own Sequencer should run more
reliable row...)
- The DSP list got a "search box", so that you can quickly access
VSTs or native Effects
=== Pattern Editor Improvements
- Pattern syntax highlighting: Volume/Pan/Offset/Pitch
effects can now be shown in different colors in the Pattern.
- Tracks can now be cloned (including all pattern data or not)
=== Sample Editor
- Added a "Snap to Zero" option, for selections and loop based
operations
- Better keyboard navigation support: You can now control, view
and edit in the sample editor without touching the mouse.
=== Disk Browser
=== GUI Improvements
=== And more...
=== Mac only
- Right modifier keys also work on the Mac now as non modifier keys
(to start playing the Pattern / Song by default)
#######################################################

################ Changes from Renoise 1.5.0 to 1.5.1
#######################################################
+- OSX: Improved compatibility for OS X Tiger
+- OSX: The OS X version will now also (the windows version
already does) save a crash-backup when something bad
happens and Renoise unexpectedly quits. You will
hopefully never need this feature, but its good to be
on the safe side, isn't it? The crash-backups are saved at
"~/Library/Preferences/Renoise/VERSION/CrashBackups"
+- More responsive/faster GUI. Especially on OS X
+- Some minor Audio Engine performance improvements
+- Ghost Notes: Renoise supports now "ghost notes", a
feature you might know from FT II or other trackers:
When using an instrument-envelope for an instrument,
you can now avoid that the envelopes are retriggered
by deleting the instrument no. in the pattern:
C-4 01 .. 0000 -> this will trigger instr. 01
--- .. .. 0000
D-4 .. .. 0000 -> this also, but the envelopes
will not be retriggered
>- Fixed a crash when auto-capture instrument was on and
Instruments > 128 where used in the current pattern
>- Fixed possibly wrong pitch rates in 01 02 05 effects,
when changing the sample rate.
>- Various other tiny fixes and improvements
#######################################################
################ Changes from Renoise 1.281 to 1.5
#######################################################
------------- OSX Port
+- Renoise is now available on Mac OSX!
------------- New GUI / Look and Feel
+- Cleaned up user-interface in general (easier to use,
better mouse-handling, easier on the eye).
+- Drag and drop
+- Context menus
+- Tooltips
+- You can now hide the lower and upper frame of the
interface (for example to edit the pattern in full
screen). Shortcuts:
- Toggle upper panel: ctrl+grave (the key to the left of "1")
- Toggle lower panel: alt+grave
+- Maximize while windowed.
+- Interface is partly skinnable (textures, color-theme, fonts)
+- HSV colors in color-theme editor and global color filters.
+- Option to disable visual effects, for slower PC's.
+- GUI uses less CPU.
+- Improved general stability and responsiveness.
------------- Render To Disk improvements
+- More rendering options
- Render pattern-selection, current pattern, sequence of
patterns, or whole song. The sequence range can be
automatically set to the selection from the sequencer
context menu.
+- Improved selection
+- Moving, copying and cloning of selected patterns by
dragging with no modifier, ctrl and shift+ctrl.
+- Loop markers (to repeat a selected sequence of patterns)
+- Config option to send noteoff on all tracks when changing
the sequencerposition.
+- New shortcuts:
- Enter patternnumber at the current position in the
sequencer: ctrl+return
- Begin/end selection:
* Begin: ctrl+alt+shift + left
* End: ctrl+alt+shift + right
- Move selection up/down in patternlist:
* Up one position: ctrl+alt+shift + up
* Down one position: ctrl+alt+shift + down
* Up one page: ctrl+alt+shift + pageup
* Down one page: ctrl+alt+shift + pagedown
* To the top: ctrl+alt+shift + home
* To the bottom: ctrl+alt+shift + end
(A page here is the size of selection range).
- Actions:
* Duplicate selection: ctrl+alt+shift + insert
* Make selection unique: ctrl+alt+shift + enter
* Delete selection: ctrl+alt+shift + delete

+- Undo/redo
+- Improved mousewheel scrolling
+- New loopfineadjust view
+- Adjust sampletype (mono<->stereo and samplerate conversions)
+- Adjust volume
------------- Advancededit
+- Added "song" and "track in song" sections.
+- The instrument transforming now uses the sections as
other operations do.
+- Added valueboxes for instrument transforming instead of
using the secondary selection in the instrumentboxes.
+- Added new value operations to advancededit:
* Add X/Y
* Sub X/Y
* Mul by X/Y
* Div by X/Y
Where X/Y is a fraction you can specify freely.
+- Made humanize use the fractional value X/Y as max amount
to add or subtract.
+- Improved shrink (now merges contents of the two lines
that becomes one).
+- Can now transpose by any given amount
+- Transpose and humanize:

relevant pattern command being inserted in the pattern
(as well as all DSP on/off ticks to work this way).
- Shows the LFO device time in "ticks".
------------- Misc
+- Simple but powerful incremental backup saving.
+- Option to avoid the auto-backup saving while playing.

+- Clipping indicator at the end of the master VU meter,
which can be reset by clicking it.
+- Added comment box in the songcontrols tab.

################ 25 Oct 2003 Renoise 1.281 final
#######################################################

################ 12 Aug 2003 Renoise 1.27 final
#######################################################
============= new stuff / addons / improvements :
============= Fixed :

============= Fixed :

################ 24 Jul 2003 Renoise 1.27 RC 1
#######################################################
============= new stuff / addons / improvements :
============= Fixed :
#######################################################
################ 9 Jul 2003 Renoise 1.27 Beta 2
#######################################################

Now a "snapshot" of the current status is made and properly restored.
<- SupaTrigga VST FX didn't work -> better VSTTimeinfo support
<- Loading a song, zapping the patterns and then starting a new song,
Renoise kept the Automation from the previous song.
<- Themes were saved without the ".xml" extension
<- In the Instrument editor, the graphical keyboard had some graphical
bugs at the bottom of each C-note.
<- With two or more envelopes, only the last one could be edited or
deleted.
<- The "Distorsion" DSP Device showed an empty label instead of
"Filter".

============= new stuff / addons / improvements :
+- New improved DiskOp (not much of the old one is left, so I'm
too lazy to list the new features here :)
+- Support for OGG samples (load them in the DiskOp as sample).
+- The old Compressor is now back as "Shaper" (tm :) in the
Track (Native) DSP Device section menu.
+- The currently selected track and instrument are now saved with the
song.
+- MIDI Mapper improvements: You can now specify a range
(min/max) for the remotely mapped value and interpret the value
inversely.
+- A vertical sliderbar in the Pattern editor
============= fixes
>- A bug in the XM importer that skipped importing some XMs
with an "Importing failed. File is corrupt" message.
>- All native filters sound the same on all samplerates now.
The wrong frequency range of some filter types is also fixed now.
>- VST effects were always active after loading, even if you
saved them being disabled (bypassed).
>- Fixed crackling problems with some TC Works VSTs :
(DeEsser/Compressor, Limiter, SideChainer, Parametric EQ, Graphic EQ)
>- The parameter names of the "*MidiCCDevice" and
"*VstiAutomationDevice" were not updated correctly in the
Track Automation view.
>- When copying patterns or tracks, envelopes were not
copied/pasted.
>- ImpulseTracker modules with no trackdata crashed Renoise.
>- When moving the virtual screen in the Track DSP menu, some
pixels were not properly cleared.
>- Fixed the bug that applying Track effects to a sample even included
the turned off ones.
>- The status line showed wrong (previous) effect chain numbers
in the Master track when typing in effects.

hey hey hey
Played a show-(haha) for about 20 minutes. Dave didn't come with so it was Just Jeanette and myself. Which is fine, Im glad she was there and she took a few hot pics of me performing too. Tho of all the people I contacted to see me play, No one came out. I understand josh being sick and Bruce being in dekalb. The event itself was full of people who were prob having a company x-mass party and they wanted Hiphop or RnB which I do not play. Then Jeanette and I went to see Venetian Snares which was full of very short people who smelled bad, but with Jeanette in front of me all i could do is smell her hair :). Sunday was a chill day watched movies, went out to breakfast, and did sum running around.
